Take & Make: MOON PHASES CALENDAR (Starting Sept. 26) (Prosser & McMahon)

In anticipation of International Observe the Moon Night (IOMN) on Oct. 1st, we will be handing out a “take and make” item developed by the educational division of the NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory: A 2022 Moon Phases Calendar. With a few simple steps, you can create your own device to show you what phase the moon will be at throughout 2022! Stop by either BPL location to pick up your ‘take and make’ kit starting on Sept. 26th. For all ages (though younger children will need help in assembling). While supplies last. Read more >

Dungeons & Dragons Gaming for Teens (Prosser) (Sep. 29 @ 5:30 PM)

By request, BPL is starting it’s first Dungeon & Dragons gaming club for teens in grades 7-12! In partnership with the crew from Tabletop Gaming Center (Newington, CT), this D&D club is perfect for beginners (and any teens looking to expand their gameplay to another group). In this first meeting, the focus will be in explaining how gameplay works, how to design your character…and more. The group will meet every Thursday at Prosser from 5:30-7:30 PM. Moon Observation Party on the Town Green – All Ages (Sat., Oct. 1 @ 7:30 PM)

Join BPL on International Observe the Moon Night (Oct. 1)! We’ll gather across the street from Prosser Library on the Town Green to look at the moon through high-powered binoculars and a telescope. There will be snacks, glow necklaces, and more! Perfect for all ages – no registration required. This event is weather permitting – there will be no rain date.

Teen Anime Club: MULTI-TOWN EVENT (Zoom) (Oct. 5 @ 6:00 PM)

For grades 6-12. This program joins together fans from West Hartford, Avon, and Bloomfield for a virtual anime club, hosted by Jeannette Hall (facilitator of the former West Hartford Sci-Fi and Anime Club). This group is open to teens with an interest in anime, manga, cartoons, comics, video games, and other related things. Sign up online to receive the Zoom link to join. Read more >

Pokémon Club at Prosser! (Sat., Oct. 8 @ 1:00 PM)

Kids are invited to the Children’s Room at our Prosser location to hang out with other Pokémon fans, trade cards, and more! Miss Nicole will have a few extra cards on hand for first-time collectors to help them build up their starter decks, and some Pokémon-themed board games will be on-hand for added fun. Teen Manga Book Club (Oct. 11 @ 5:00 PM) (Zoom)

A book club for teens who love manga! For our October 2022 meeting (our first!), we’ll be discussing the new manga release TOKYO REVENGERS. I will be able to give out a limited number of copies for club members to keep, while supplies last. Advanced registration is required to receive a book. Meetings will be virtual on the Zoom platform.

BPL’s Great Puzzle Swap at Filley Park (Sat., Oct. 15 / 11am-1pm)

Bring a puzzle, take a puzzle! Enjoy the beautiful Fall weather at Filley Park, sip some cider, and browse for some new puzzles to take home. Puzzle fans of all ages can bring a donation puzzle the day of the event…or bring puzzle donations to either BPL location between Sept. 1 and Oct. 14, and those puzzles will be brought to the event on Saturday, Oct. 15th.
