Community Partners in Action: Prison Arts Program Alumni

Prosser Library Exhibit
Initiated in 1978, the Prison Arts Program is Community Partners in Action’s longest running initiative and one of the oldest projects of its kind in the United States. Operating inside Connecticut prisons, the program fosters unique, evolving artistic pursuits to positively transform the lives of incarcerated individuals and improve the correctional environment. This impactful work relies on a collaborative network of prison staff, alumni artists, professional creators, volunteers, community organizations, and state agencies.
ART RECEPTION: Prison Arts Program Reception was held on Tuesday, October 6, at 4-6 PM in the Prosser Community Room; for adults.

Prosser Library Exhibit
Pierre is a self-taught multimedia artist whose work has been featured in solo and group exhibitions nationwide. Working across painting, tile, stained glass, textiles, and found objects, Pierre is recognized for art that sparks emotion, brings communities together, and addresses current social issues.
As Gallery Director and Curator at Charter Oak Cultural Center, Pierre champions the power of art to heal society by creating access and visibility for talented artists and students.
A recipient of the Middletown Art Advocacy Award, Pierre’s work is held in public and private collections, including Wesleyan University, Charter Oak Cultural Center, Middletown Town Hall, Russell Library, and Body Connect Health & Wellness in Washington, DC.
