October 2026 – Libby/OverDrive and Kanopy Update
- Starting October 15, the Libby app and OverDrive website will require you to enter both your library card barcode AND your online library account password when logging into the app/website. See the instructions below for setting up your online library account password.
- Starting October 15, the Kanopy app/website will require a one-time verification step the next time you log into Kanopy, in addition to your Kanopy username and Kanopy password. The one-time verification requires you to provide both your library card barcode AND your online library account password. See the instructions below for setting up your online library account password. You will need to complete the one-time verification step when you set up your Kanopy account for the first time or get a new library card number.
Instructions for setting up your online library account password:
- Visit My Account login page, or visit the new BPL Online Catalog and click the Log In button in the upper right corner. PINs from the old system (prior to June 2026) have not been transferred, so you must set a new password for your online library account.
- Choose “Reset Password,” enter your library card number, and follow the prompts. You must have an email address on file with the library in order to reset your password using this method. Check your spam folder if you attempt to reset the password and cannot find the email. If you do not have an email address on file, please contact library staff for assistance.

Bloomfield Public Library, along with other libraries in the greater-Hartford area, transitioned to a new online library system in early June. Please be patient with us as we make this transition. We are learning the new system, too!
The new system offers patrons a more modern and user-friendly way to search for materials, manage your online library account, and discover new items.
