Planning for the Future at Bloomfield Public Library

At Bloomfield Public Library, we are always thinking about how to best serve our community — today and for years to come. Our previous strategic plan wrapped up in 2025, and we will be launching a new plan in early 2026.

We’re excited to share that Bloomfield Public Library has developed its next Strategic Plan as part of a special cohort led by the Connecticut Library Consortium (CLC). Working with CLC Executive Director Ellen Paul and nationally renowned library consultant Maureen Sullivan, we collaborated with Case Memorial Library (Orange), Derby Neck Library, Sacred Heart University, Southern Connecticut State University, and Welles-Turner Library (Glastonbury) to learn, share ideas, and shape plans that truly reflect each community’s needs.

Maureen is a widely recognized leader in the library profession, a past president of the American Library Association, and a trusted consultant who has guided libraries nationwide — including many here in Connecticut — through strategic planning and leadership development. As part of this process, we began with conversations with our Library Board and our staff, followed by community conversations and a community survey — and your voices have been essential in shaping the future of Bloomfield Public Library.

This unique approach makes strategic planning more accessible, cost-effective, and collaborative — and ensures Bloomfield’s future is guided by both expert insight and community voices. Bloomfield: THE FUTURE IS BRIGHT!
