The Friends will start accepting donations of gently used materials on February 4th at the Booksellers’ Cellar, located on the GROUND LEVEL at Prosser Library (take the elevator or stairs to the lower level and turn left). Please see the guidelines below for where and when to bring your donations, and for our donation criteria.
Bring your donations of gently used materials directly to the Booksellers’ Cellar during our hours of operation:
- Tuesday: 11am – 1pm AND 3 pm – 5pm
- Wednesday: 11am – 3pm
- Thursday: 11am – 1pm AND 5pm – 7pm
- Friday: 11am – 3pm
- Saturday: 11am – 1pm

We ACCEPT gently used:
- Hardcover & Softcover books
- Fiction & Nonfiction
- Adult, Teen and Children’s
- DVDs, CDs and Audio Books on CD
All items must be clean and in good condition. Please DO NOT BRING items with dirt, water damage, mildew, notes or underlining, as they are unsellable.
Daily donations to the Cellar are limited to 2 bags or boxes per person. Exceptions may be made for large donations (for example, 5-10 boxes) by making special arrangements with the Friends. Please contact us by email at friendsofblmfdlibraries@gmail.com or by phone at 860-769-3560.
The following materials are NOT ACCEPTED:
- Cassettes and VHS Videos
- Magazines
- Textbooks, Encyclopedias & Dictionaries
- Professional books (legal, medical, financial)
- Computer manuals
- Outdated Atlases & Travel books
- Readers Digest condensed books
Receipts for tax donations are available.
